The DEATHLYMPICS by Serge Lutumba

Lord void, he peered at the stadium with a fat cigar roll in his mouth. He wore a dark grey waistcoat which had a lava orange interior, he looked to the sky that looked like a television with broken cable. He laughed and showed complete disregard for the city and all its hope. Lord void dropped his cigar and picked up his cup of wine and looked at his multi-million dollar blue print for the ultimate money making skim,The Deathlympics,The city had grown enough hate to even care about people dying in the act of sport, they might just enjoy it.

Lord void had his corrupt money making skim in his mind, he could see the hovering stadium and the deathly obstacle course that the unlucky contestants had to do. He looked at the levitating holographic clocks striking thirteen, it was time for his press conference, Lord void walked in the room gingerly making sure he saw every reporter and to make sure there was no secret cameras around. He stood up arrogantly and nodded his head and at an instant everyone bowed their head. His fingers twitched repetitively as he waited for the first question. Lord void took out his cigar and ordered for the reporters to get on with the first question. Reporter 1:”L…l…lord Void their have been rumors spreading that the Olympics are unsafe.” “HA HA HA  since when can sports be unsafe we just need 6 healthy contestants that think they can win the gold”. Reporter 2:”Lord Void if its just a bit of sports why was there any need for more time to do more work in the running track.” Lord Void put his cigar down, the tension was high and the reporters eyes turned to the unlucky man who thought he cold say what he like. Lord Void pointed his finger at him and he was disintegrated at an instant. He smiled and said ” any more questions?” after a brief silence he said “thank you.”

Within the dark realm of void city lived an unlikely hero, Kristen kage, he was single, without a social life and he worked in a office inside his house. After work hours he normally sits on the couch and watches TV, he normally watches the news. What stood out to Kristen was how Lord Void was randomly picking contestants to compete in the 800m death run. Clouds of uncertainty shadowed his mind, there was a slim chance Kristen would get picked but there was always a possibility that lingered in his mind. Kristen was beginning to feel inpatient, a parade of positive and negative thoughts ran rampage in his mind and after he calmed himself down he took some headache pills and took his glasses off and sighed and went to sleep.

2 months later….

The Deathlympics approaching fast, only 3 weeks left, it was the day that will dramatically change the lives of six people who will have to strap up and literally run for their lives. Kristen ran to the couch to see the six unlucky people who had to survive based on how fit they were, the draw began and the first name they picked out was Bennett ledlow, Kristen laughed and said “unlucky mate.” Next was Nicky Lavine, then came Archie feed, harry O’sullivan, Gibou Njile then last came Kristen Kage. He felt as if reality slapped him across the face and he realized that he only has 3 weeks to get in the best shape possible.

The next day a letter came to his door. It explained how the race was going to happen first the racers will go to their mark, as they start running Lord Void will click a button to start disintegrate the racetrack behind the racers if you fall behind you will fall into a endless abyss, but there are other obstacles you have to worry about as there was laser beams and the stadium spins while you run and if you come last you will be ELIMINATED. Kristen thought to himself he remembered the times when sports united people and the 5 Olympic values all forgotten and now we take pleasure in the deaths of others, “we humans are truly monsters.” He said to himself. “Despite how unjust this is I can’t give up it’s time to get fit.”

It was the time of the truth. The Deathlympics had reached it’s destination. Beyond the stadium were flying objects, that lit up the sky all in formation, it gave Kristen an eerie feeling. The build up to this historical event was unbearable, all the what if’s were roaming his head. When he told it to go away it stayed where it was. Kristen had butterfly’s in his stomach and when his name was called out on the announcement speaker it was like a sucker punch to his gut, he walked at a leisurely pace to the end of the tunnel to see the overwhelming crowd. Kristen’s heart raced as he saw Lord Void in the distance, he gave Kristen a cheap good luck smile but he knew that he was a gonner. Kristen stretched out and put himself in the zone, as long as he did not come last or die he would live, but compared to the other contestants he needed a miracle. It was time. All the racers were asked to get in position Kristen’s arm were jittering continuously and he realized there was no way out. He looked at the contestants and gave them a goodbye look, from there Kristen head went down and he was ready to run for his life.

Mr Waugh, i think i deserve these three badges: prop and op, debating and tread the boards. The reason why I think i deserve the debating badge is because I was part of the team that went to the London School of Economics to debate various motions. We came third, you can clarify this with Mrs pinto. I also think i deserve the prop and op badge because in re with Mr Merrick we did speeches about death row, there was two sides people for the death penalty and people who were against. I made a formal 2 minute speech. Lastly I think I deserve tread the boards when we were reading Macbeth, we were at the scene of Macbeth banquet and Banquo’s ghost appears. I acted as Macduff in that scene.

I hope you can take my reasons into consideration.
